The Awards Portal came to be out of sheer frustration.
Part of the strategy for our clients in The Visibility Lab is participating in awards, but before we could help them with submissions, we both needed to find the awards that were a good fit for their business.
Our clients are busy entrepreneurs and business owners, so it goes without saying, they don’t have time to be poring through Google results for hours on end looking for awards, and then whittling them down to the ones they were eligible for and that were currently open.
The Visibility Lab is filled with clients like these, so it also goes without saying that we didn’t have the time to be Googling away for all of them either. But that’s what we were doing and it was overwhelming and time consuming.
How it all started…
After searching for a directory we could use, I found that there wasn’t much on the market - and what was available was years out of date and missing vital information making them useless.
It was at this point I decided that I would create a tool for my team and our clients, and with the help of Monash University, we developed a state of the art portal and set about filling it with every available Australian business award.
The Awards Portal has since evolved into more than a directory, it’s a training hub, resource library and cheatsheet with everything our clients need to know about entering awards. We made it available to all small business owners and entrepreneurs after demand for it once word got out within the business community. My team now continue to update and add awards and resources on a monthly basis, ensuring the awards information in the portal is the best available anywhere.
